Hi, thank you for your interest in participating in our study. We are exploring how to support teachers to provide effective feedback to their students. Currently, we are collecting assignment data from Microsoft Teams to understand the current assignment practices of teachers and students. By clicking the button below, you will be authorizing us to access the assignments data including the submissions of your students from your Microsoft Teams account. We will not collect any other data from your account.

Research Terms

TEACH M-Powered is a research tool that uses generative AI and natural language processing methods to assists teachers with writing effective feedback to students. You are asked to participate in the development of these tools by sharing your assignment feedback data and testing the pilot version of this application. Rest assured, no external party is granted access to the data and we will dispose of all Stanford-stored data after the research project.

DATA COLLECTION:

The data collected will include previous assignment title text, assignment instructions text, student document submission content text, and teacher feedback text for student submissions. You have a right to withdraw your consent within 30 days of submitting this form. If consent is withdrawn, we will delete your data, and it will not be included in the development of the tool.

TIME INVOLVEMENT:

This application will take approximately 10 minutes to sync data. Following the initial data sync, you may choose to engage with the feedback suggestions in the pilot tool while writing feedback on student work.

RISKS AND BENEFITS:

The risks associated with this study are minimal, yet there may be risks that are currently unforeseeable. Study data will be stored securely, in compliance with Stanford University standards, minimizing the risk of a confidentiality breach. The benefits which may reasonably be expected to result from this study include receiving writing suggestions that incorporate mindset-supportive language in student feedback. We cannot and do not guarantee or promise that you will receive any benefits from this study.

PARTICIPANT’S RIGHTS:

If you have read this form and have decided to participate in this project, please understand your participation is voluntary and you have the right to withdraw your consent or discontinue participation at any time without penalty or loss of benefits to which you are otherwise entitled. The alternative is not to participate. You have the right to refuse to answer particular questions. The results of this research study may be presented at scientific or professional meetings or published in scientific journals. Your individual privacy will be maintained in all published and written data resulting from the study. In accordance with scientific norms, the data from this study may be used or shared with other researchers for future research (after removing personally identifying information) without additional consent from you.
